- Place spare ribs in the bottom of a slow cooker; top with ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, honey, soy sauce, ginger, salt, mustard, garlic powder and black pepper.

Great recipe. The only thing I did different was I chose to boil the ribs for 30 minutes, and drain. I browned the ribs in a little oil after seasoning with garlic powder, salt & pepper. I added sliced onion to the crock pot, placed the ribs in, added the sauce and cooked on high for almost 5 hours. The result was fall-off-the-bone ribs, with a delicius sauce. Hubby loved it as much as I did.-10 Nov 2013

Delicious! All the kids, even the pickiest 3 year old, liked it. I decreased brown sugar to 1/2 cup, only added about 1 Tbsp of honey and used apple cider vinegar. Salted and peppered ribs, then quickly browned them on the stovetop on all sides. Cooked for 5 hours on high as directed. Ribs turned out perfect and the taste of the sauce is amazing. It had just enough sweetness though, so adding as much sugar and honey as recipe calls for would be too much. Thanks for a delicious recipe! It will become my staple.-07 Mar 2015
Fall-Off-the-Bone Slow Cooker Glazed Ribs
Succulent fall-apart ribs made all day in the slow cooker.
packages pork loin back ribs (about 2 1/2 to 3 pounds each)
whole large onion, sliced thin
whole garlic cloves, peeled
Cut the racks of ribs in half and place them in the slow cooker.Add the onions, garlic, salt, and pepper, then place the lid on the cooker and cook on low for 8 hours, making sure not to lift the lid or otherwise disturb the ribs.
Strain off all of the cooking liquid, making sure not to lose any of the garlic or onions. Next, make the sauce. Combine the preserves, ketchup, barbecue sauce, and hot sauce in a medium bowl, and stir it until it&rsquos all combined.
Pour the sauce over the ribs, and use tongs to move the ribs around in the sauce as much as you can. Note that the ribs will be falling apart by this stage, so you won&rsquot be able to be too rough with them. Place the lid on the slow cooker and keep the ribs on warm for 20 minutes, or until you need them.
Serve &rsquoem on a plate, if they can travel that far without falling to pieces. Succulent and delicious!
Hello, friends! You will never, ever experience more tender baby back ribs than the ones you make in a slow cooker. Some kind of crazy magic happens under that lid, I tell you!
A &ldquomistake&rdquo (which you really can hardly call a mistake because they taste great no matter what) I can make when making ribs in a slow cooker is cooking the sauce along with the ribs for the entire time. The problem with this is that the ribs give off so much liquid as they cook that the sauce will wind up watery and won&rsquot stick to the ribs. So I add the sauce after the ribs have cooked&mdashworks much better!

Cut the racks of ribs in half . . .
And place them in a 6-quart (or larger) slow cooker.
Add the onions, garlic, salt, and pepper . . .
Then place the lid on the cooker and cook on low for 8 hours, making sure not to lift the lid or otherwise disturb the ribs.
This is what they look like after that time. Totally weird, but they&rsquore about to get super delicious. Start by straining off all of the cooking liquid, making sure not to lose any of the garlic or onions. (Remove the ribs and pour the liquid through a mesh strainer if you want to be careful.)
Next, make the sauce. Combine plum preserves (or apricot!), ketchup, barbecue sauce, and hot sauce in a medium bowl. All the tangy, sticky, spicy good things in life.
And stir it until it&rsquos all combined.
Pour the sauce over the ribs . . .
And use tongs to move the ribs around in the sauce as much as you can. Note that the ribs will be falling apart by this stage, so you won&rsquot be able to be too rough with them.
I mean . . . look at how easily the bone comes out! It&rsquos a world gone mad, I tell you.
Serve &rsquoem on a plate, if they can travel that far without falling to pieces.
Slow Cooker Coca-Cola BBQ Country-Style Ribs (Coke Ribs)
- 4 pounds boneless or bone-in country style pork ribs (can use up to 6 pounds for bone-in ribs)
- 12 ounces of Coca-Cola (original, not diet)
- 1 bottle of your favorite barbecue sauce or use homemade
- salt and pepper to taste
Spray cooker with non-stick cooking spray and fill with ribs evenly, salt and pepper to taste then pour coke over ribs. Cook on low for 6- 8 hours or on high for 3 1/2 -4 hours (adjust cooking time according to how fast/slow your cooker cooks). Make sure ribs reach a safe internal temp of 145 degrees f.
When ready, gently transfer ribs to a sheet pan (discard juice in cooker). Cover pan with foil or parchment paper for easy clean-up. Slather ribs with your favorite barbecue sauce then place them in the oven preheated to 400 degrees f. for about 10-15 minutes, until the barbecue sauce starts to bubble and caramelize. You can also broil the ribs to caramelize the barbecue sauce quicker (*don’t use parchment paper under the broiler).

Slow Cooker Ribs
The first step was to cut up the ribs. Truth be told, this was my first time working with spare ribs (we usually use baby back ribs&hellip heck, who am I kidding, we usually just do this.) It can be a little intimidating to cut up a slab of ribs if you haven&rsquot done it before. This video shows you how to trim them down.
Once you get them trimmed down you will just want to make a cut at each bone to give each rib a nice piece of meat on them.
Once I had them trimmed down, I needed to boil them before slow cooking them. This was made super easy using the Programmable Insulated Slow Cooker that Hamilton Beach sent me. It has a stove top safe insert that I could just pop out of the slow cooker, boil my ribs in and then drain and pop right back in.
Once my ribs were boiled a bit, I mixed up my sauce and cooked on low for 8 hours.
I then took the ribs out of the pot and placed them on a cookie sheet and brushed them with our favorite BBQ sauce.
We are HUGE Sweet Baby Ray fans and so I slathered those puppies with that sweet and saucy sauce and then popped them under my broiler for 3 minutes. Note: You will need to watch your broiler to make sure you don&rsquot burn your ribs&hellip now THAT would be a shame.
The result? Super tender ribs that just fall off the bone with a nice sweet sauce.
Slow Cooker Southern Style Ribs
Barbecue and ribs are a Southern staple. There are several recipes on this very site for various flavors and cooking methods. This recipe is a simple, “leave it and forget it” slow cooker recipe that utilizes the less expensive Southern Style Ribs, a meatier version of the popular pork rib.
- 3 pounds Southern Style Pork Ribs
- ¼ teaspoons Black Pepper
- ¼ teaspoons Salt
- ¼ teaspoons Garlic Powder
- ¼ teaspoons Onion Powder
- ½ teaspoons Red Pepper Flakes
- ½ cups Barbecue Sauce
- ½ cups Water
1. Place the ribs in the bottom of the slow cooker.
2. Sprinkle the dry seasonings over the ribs. Top with barbecue sauce. Carefully pour the water into the bottom of the slow cooker, making sure not to pour over the ribs.
3. Place the lid on the slow cooker. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.
4. Carefully remove from the slow cooker. The ribs should be tender and falling apart.
5. Serve and enjoy!

My son has been home from college for the last month, and he returns this weekend. I have been letting him get in his dinner requests this week. Yesterday though, I thought I would wing it. I had some boneless country style pork ribs in the freezer, so I defrosted them and decided to have barbecue. My family NEVER argues about barbecue, it’s something I know that everyone will be happy about.
I typically boil my ribs in beer before I grill them. You can find my recipe for those pork ribs HERE. Yesterday though, more white stuff was falling from the winter sky, and I decided dinner would not be getting made on the patio. I tossed the ribs in my slow cooker, and dumped a can of Dr. Pepper over the top.
After they cooked slow all day, becoming so tender I could barely move them to my baking rack, I knew they would be awesome. I transferred them to a rack over a cookie sheet, and brushed them with a combination of BBQ sauce and more Dr. Pepper. The sauce was super yummy! I baked them for 30 minutes to caramelize the sauce, flipping them once and adding more sauce.
Cheesy Cornbread Drop Biscuits – A fluffy and slightly sweet in the middle biscuit, full of flavor with a crisp exterior. They make the perfect pairing to soups and salads.
They were sensational. I served them with hash browns, cheesy cornbread drop biscuits and sweet corn. My husband said “This is the best dinner you have made in a long time!” (He’s partial to the entire menu, so I had no doubt he would be thrilled!) I love making him and his tummy happy!
Did I mention this recipe only requires three ingredients?
- ¾ cup ketchup
- 1 tablespoon cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 ½ teaspoons smoked paprika
- 1/4-1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon ground pepper
- 2 1/2-3 pounds baby back pork ribs
Whisk ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, smoked paprika and crushed red pepper together in a small bowl. Combine garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper in another small bowl. Rub the garlic mixture all over the ribs. Spread 1 tablespoon of the ketchup mixture over the sinewy side of the ribs. Place in a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker. Spread the remaining ketchup mixture over the meaty side. Cover and cook on High for 4 hours or Low for 8 hours.
Transfer the ribs to a large baking sheet. Spoon the sauce from the slow cooker over the ribs and place under the broiler until starting to brown, 4 to 6 minutes. Carve the rack between the bones and serve.

Best Ever Slow Cooker Beef Ribs. Fall off the bone, tender ribs of beef slow-cooked in a delicious sauce and simply melts in your mouth. The flavor is amazing! Option to use a pressure cooker or multi-cooker too.
I've called this recipe Best Ever Slow Cooker Beef Ribs simply because they really are the BEST EVER!
The flavor and texture is out of this world.
For this recipe, I've combined several flavors from herbs and spices, added some honey (that is what is giving those ribs the beautiful glaze you see in the photos), and cooked these nice and slow in the crockpot.
In the recipe, I give you instructions if you wish to cook in the oven too.
In the UK, beef ribs are incredibly cheap. I have no idea why but I'm not complaining! It seems the butchers and supermarkets see these are 'left over' bones and can't sell them so the price is very very low.
As you can see on the ribs I've used, there is a lot of meat and marbling of the fat which gives the ribs a lovely flavor and is as tender as they come.
I've cooked these just in the oven, baked with some olive oil and balsamic vinegar for about 30 minutes to test for tenderness and they are as tender as a rib-eye steak!
Depending on the size of the ribs you have, make sure they will fit in your slow cooker (some butchers leave them huge so ask them to cut them down!).
You can gauge about 1 - 2 ribs per person, depending on their size. You know your family's appetite best so you judge the amount they will eat!
Of course, when meat is cooked on the bone, particularly beef, you get the flavor from the bone, the marrow and so on, and that all contributes to the flavor of the best ever slow cooked beef ribs.
These beef ribs are really easy to prepare. You do need to sautee everything first in order to seal the meat and soften the onions, but here, I've used one large pan to do all of this, so you won't have a lot of washing up to do.
For these beef ribs, I've served with some of our Creamy Cheesy Mashed Potato and some steamed broccoli.
The carrots you see in the photo were cooked in the slow cooker together with the beef ribs to add some extra flavor to the broth.
Yummy! The mashed potato doesn't take long to make, the recipe gives you a tip if you wanted to make ahead and reheat, so you get it all fluffy and creamy again after it has been chilled.
Otherwise, you can make it and serve immediately if your ribs are ready.
This recipe would be a great meal to make for a weekend dinner if you were going out on a nice long walk on a Winter's day and came home to the smell of this cooking in your slow cooker. Imagine!
You could also make it for a dinner party, have everything prepared and cooking so when your family or friends arrive, you're not busy in the kitchen.

How to Make Slow Cooker Spare Ribs
First, make your dry rub and your semi-barbecue sauce. See recipe card below for full recipe and instructions. Next, preheat the broiler.
Second, pat the ribs dry and remove the membranes. Next, rub the ribs with the dry rub. Shake off any excess.
Third, broil the ribs on a baking sheet in the oven for 5-10 minutes on each side until they get a nice caramelized color.
Once the pork ribs are finished broiling in the oven, place them in the slow cooker in a circle. See photo below.
Fourth, using a basting brush baste the ribs with the semi-homemade apple bbq sauce. Make sure to pour any remaining sauce over the ribs.
Last, pour one cup of water at the bottom of the slow cooker and cook the ribs for 4 to 6 hours. Once the pork ribs are finished cooking, remove them carefully and enjoy!
